Edgewood, Kentucky - Michael "Mike" James Burton, aged 77, of Edgewood, peacefully passed away on the morning of July 23, 2025, enveloped by the love of his adoring family. Mike, born in Cincinnati to the late James and Beryl Burton, obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Morehead State University and later contributed his talents to his family business, Johnston Paper Company.

Mike is survived by his cherished wife of 49 years, Kathy; his sons, Bryce Burton and Sean Burton; his sister, Patricia (Victor) Dietz; and his niece, Jennifer Shockey.

Actively engaged in philanthropic endeavors, Mike found purpose through charitable work at Immanuel Methodist Church, an integral part of his adult life. A talented artist, his creations preserved in oil paintings, charcoal sketches, and ceramics adorn the walls of his family home, a lasting tribute to his creative spirit.

With an enduring passion for the great outdoors, Mike relished bike rides, meticulously built structures in his spare time, and pursued spelunking adventures and hiking escapades. He instilled his love for nature in his family, leading them on countless camping and caving expeditions to national parks and caves across the country.

Mike's early experiences at Camp Ernst shaped his lifelong fondness for the camp, where both his children attended and worked. In honor of his memory and dedication to Camp Ernst, memorial contributions can be made to the camp in Mike's name.

Visitation to honor Mike will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, KY.
