Jason Maydak Boone County Jailer | Boone County - KY

Boone County has been actively engaged in several community and regional efforts. Recently, two Boone County employees, Casey Archey and Tyler Hill, were deployed to Haywood County, North Carolina, following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. They joined Kentucky Emergency Management teams to assist with the distribution of essential supplies. Their work involves coordinating with various agencies and the National Guard to ensure efficient delivery of resources.

The Boone County Fiscal Court convened on October 1st to address multiple issues. Carrie Herrmann from the Boone County Public Library reported a reduction in the library's tax rate for 2024. Christy Noll from the Boone Conservancy highlighted their conservation efforts and a new project aimed at acquiring riverfront property for preservation and recreation purposes. The court also approved bids for services related to an upcoming Household Hazardous Waste collection event.

Trick-or-treating in Boone County is scheduled for October 31st from 6-8 p.m., with similar hours set by the City of Florence. Residents are encouraged to participate safely by turning on porch lights if they wish to distribute candy.

A Household Hazardous Waste event will take place on November 2nd at Thomas More Stadium in Florence, allowing residents to dispose of approved materials safely. This annual event is supported by a state grant.

Several other events are planned for October, including a food drive on October 19th and a waste tire collection event on October 25th and 26th. Additionally, the Jack-o-Lantern Walk will be held on October 26th at Boone County Fairgrounds, featuring hand-carved pumpkins and festive activities.
