Boone County will hold a household hazardous waste drop-off event on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at Thomas More Stadium, located at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, Kentucky.
The initiative aims to help residents dispose of hazardous materials safely and protect the community and environment. Items accepted at the event include aerosol cans, all types of batteries, corrosives and flammables, electronics, ink and toner cartridges, light bulbs, oil and car fluids, oil-based paint (with a limit of 10 containers), pesticides, tanks and cylinders, and televisions (with a limit of two per resident).
Certain items will not be accepted for safety reasons. These include appliances, tires, ammunition, explosives, fertilizer, latex paint, medications, and radioactive items.
The event is open only to residents of Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties. Businesses are not allowed to participate. Residents are required to bring a completed registration form to the event. The form can be downloaded from the county’s website.
Organizers note that the event is popular and attendees should expect long lines and wait times. “We are proud to offer this annual opportunity to serve our residents, encourage safe and responsible disposal practices and protect the place we call home. We look forward to seeing you there!” the announcement states.
For questions about the event, residents can contact Jake Buergerm at Boone County (wbuerger@boonecountyky.org, 859-334-3629), Melissa Grandstaff at Kenton County (melissa.grandstaff@kentoncounty.org, 859-392-1919), or Megan Clere Abrams at Campbell County (mclere@campbellcountyky.gov, 859-547-1866).
