The Salem Creek Bridge in Boone County will be closed for emergency repairs starting Saturday, September 27 at 3 p.m., following a request from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC). The closure affects all vehicular traffic.

Boone County officials are working with KYTC and contractors to develop a plan and timeline for repairs. "The County is currently working with a contractor to schedule emergency repairs," according to the announcement. These repairs aim to ensure the bridge can be reopened safely.

Officials have stated that while emergency repairs will restore access in the short term, a complete replacement of the bridge is necessary. Planning, design, and permitting for the full replacement have begun, but construction is not expected to start for several years.

During the closure, residents are advised to use detours via Eads Road and Walton Verona Road (Route 16). Community members seeking more information or updates can visit publicinput.com/SalemCreek.
