Boone County is set to host several significant events and discussions in the coming days. The Boone County Fiscal Court will convene on Tuesday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will take place at the Boone County Administration Building in Burlington, Kentucky. Key agenda items include updates from the Boone County Transportation Improvement District and resolutions for ongoing partnerships with the Brighton Center to support community services, particularly for women in recovery. Additionally, a resolution concerning a new amphitheater at Boone Woods and right-of-way acquisition for a road roundabout will be discussed.

Colleen Bray, Director of Animal Services in Boone County, has been recognized with the 2024 Achievement for Animals Award by The Humane World for Animals' Kentucky chapter. This award acknowledges her lifetime dedication to animal advocacy and best practices in animal care. Her notable contributions include leading the development of a new animal shelter and initiating various community support programs.

The Northern Kentucky Solid Waste Management Area (NKSWMA) continues its deliberations on increasing landfill capacity following a public meeting held on February 3. Residents expressed concerns about potential environmental impacts such as odor and pest control. Discussions between Boone County and Bavarian are expected to address these issues while ensuring compliance with regulations.

County offices will be closed on Monday, February 18, in observance of President’s Day.
