Boone County sets Halloween 2024 trick-or-treat hours

Boone County - KY | Official Website

Boone County has announced the designated hours for trick-or-treating this Halloween. The event will take place on Thursday, October 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the unincorporated areas of Boone County. Similarly, the City of Florence and Union have set their trick-or-treat hours for the same time.

Although not sponsored by the county, these consistent hours are set to promote safe trick-or-treating across various locations. Residents who wish to participate by handing out candy are encouraged to turn on their porch lights during these hours.

The tradition is a favorite among children and families, with homes often decorated in festive themes and children planning costumes well in advance. To ensure safety during this time, several tips have been shared:

- Choose reflective and flame-resistant costumes that fit well.

- Encourage children to look both ways before crossing streets.

- Use non-toxic makeup or hats instead of masks that might impair vision.

- Equip children with glow sticks or flashlights for better visibility.

- Be mindful of any allergies when collecting treats.

- Cross streets at corners or crosswalks.

Drivers are also advised to be cautious:

- Drive slowly through neighborhoods with many trick-or-treaters.

- Turn on headlights before dusk.

- Watch carefully for children between parked cars.

- Take extra care at intersections and stop signs.

- Avoid distractions such as mobile phones while driving.
